THE STORY BEHIND THE RUST

We are a collective soul of crafters, driven by PASSION, VISION, and HISTORIC RESPONSIBILITY to rescue and create history one object at a time.

The Bent & Rusty was founded by Billie Eckhardt, whose love for creating custom furnishings from reclaimed materials led her back to Laramie in 2013. What started as a booth at Bart’s Flea Market quickly grew into a full-fledged store, fueled by her passion for rescuing forgotten pieces and her entrepreneurial spirit. In 2014, The Bent & Rusty moved into a historic downtown building, where Billie brought together talented makers. The shop expanded its offerings to include rustic home décor, antiques, architectural salvage, custom wood furniture, jewelry, soap, gifts, and more.

Today, The Bent & Rusty is an 8,000 sq. ft. co-op of dedicated crafters who dig through barns, basements, and auctions to find, fix, and reimagine one-of-a-kind pieces. Our ever-changing inventory makes every visit unique, and we invite customers to explore both the main floor and the basement of our 1892 building. Driven by passion, vision, and a deep sense of historic responsibility, we’re proud to preserve the past while creating the heirlooms of tomorrow—one rescued object at a time.
